From Behind My Lens V2

6am coffee. The buzz of my household, breakfast with my family, text messages, and emails; I begin to sketch my plan for the day. I have an 8am client, who's never had her picture taken, professionally. Our conversations have been sweet and exciting, but in the back of her mind and behind her eyes, I have sensed her nervousness for the upcoming session. A gorgeous soul, throughout, I am confident that we will find the right energy to put her at ease and invite her beauty to escape that nervousness and be free.I will work to capture those moments.

In the studio, I begin wrestling with lights, fluffing linens, tinkering with angel wings, and finally, loading battery packs into cameras, changing out lenses, and polishing the powerful glass under the cap. My job is to seek the beauty that already exists within every human that I have the pleasure of photographing. When I lift the camera to my eye, my goal is to draw out the moments of your evolution of love for yourself. Powerful and deeply meaningful to me.

Maybe there's something about the thought of the camera or the energy of the studio that seems intimidating before one arrives for a session. Maybe. I try to remember my own first Boudoir Session every time I agree to photograph someone. The energy, the unfamliar and uncertainty, the evoloution of the spirit during the session is what I work to evoke, and why I work from behind the camera.

Boudoir literally means a woman's bedroom, dressing room, or private sitting area. We have created warm and welcoming layouts, that resemble these intimate places, that we all have and cherish within our homes, apartments, or living spaces. Monroe & Co Boudoir is about empowerment photography; finding those moments of self-love and appreciation.
